National Diabetes Awareness Week 12/7/2019

09 July 2019

With National Diabetes Awareness week almost upon us, I wanted to take this opportunity to raise awareness of diabetes in the community, particularly on the importance of early detection and prevention of (type 2) diabetes.

At SA Pathology, we are proud to have provided state-of-the-art pathology testing services to over 37,000 South Australians with diabetes in the last 12 months, and supported the thousands of healthcare professionals across South Australia looking after the 6.1% of the community who are diagnosed with diabetes.

I would also like to draw attention to the great resources available for patients with the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS), such as the diabetes annual cycle of care checklist, which is especially helpful in ensuring a diabetes health care team can assist in the management of diabetes, and to reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications.
