Professor Gordon is a graduate of the University of Adelaide and has worked as a Clinical Immunologist and Director of Laboratory Services in Immunology at the Flinders Medical Centre since 1990.
He has a particular interest in the diagnostic utility and pathogenesis of autoantibodies in systemic autoimmunity, and worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Scripps Clinic in California prior to returning to Flinders.
Professor Gordon is the author of over 130 international peer-reviewed research publications, many of which are in high impact factor journals, and has 25 years of continual funding from the National Health and Medical Research Council for his work on Lupus, Sjogren’s syndrome and other autoimmune diseases. This has led to him being awarded several national and international prizes together with international patents.
He is a strong advocate of bench-to-bedside research in the setting of university teaching hospitals and has trained both immunopathologists and physician-scientists.
